These breakfast pops are our latest attempt at getting Steve’s grandsons to eat something at least sort of healthy for breakfast. I mean both the granola and yogurt have sugar in them. But, I bought pretty healthy granola and fruited low-fat yogurt, so these were a pretty good treat. I know there are other breakfast pop recipes out there. I’ve seen photos on Pinterest from time to time, but I’ve never really investigated them because all the ones I have seen seem to be banana, which is not something I like. These are not even really a recipe, but they are simple and kid friendly – perfect for hot summer mornings!
The boys are highly suspicious of my homemade concoctions of foods they are used to eating store bought, so this really is a procedure instead of a recipe. But, if you want to make your own yogurt and granola, these would probably be even better. I will say that I have not actually done this, but I suspect you will need to add a bit of sugar to the yogurt to get a good texture. You definitely need it with ice cream. Now that I am thinking about it, I am definitely going to have to try this.
Breakfast Pops
Ingredients
- yogurt (I used low-fat strawberry and vanilla.)
- granola
Instructions
- Layer the yogurt and granola into pop molds starting with yogurt because they need yogurt on the bottom to hold the granola in.
- Freeze overnight or until solid.
Great idea Michelle!
Keep ut the hard work 😀
