This is one of the easiest sauces you will ever make, and it is so good. It is sweet, but not super sweet – it has no added sugar, but cherries are naturally sweet, and it is just perfect on grilled meat. Cherries are one of my favorite fruits, and I am so glad to see fresh ones back in the stores. You already know Steve has been grilling, but some of it you don’t see because it really isn’t a recipe – grilled chicken or pork chops without marinade, etc., for example. Well, this cherry wine sauce is just perfect for that kind of grilling. We have eaten over both chicken and pork. Both, were delicious, but I have to say that I really liked the pork better. There is just something about cherries and pork.
Cherry Wine Sauce
- 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted and stems removed
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, finely chopped
- Place all ingredients in a skillet.
- Cook over medium heat until cherries are lightly cooked and sauce has thickened. You can cook this longer or shorter depending on how thick you want the sauce.
