My husband and I recently visited Three Sisters Vineyards for the Georgia Wine Country festival. We have visited the vineyard in the past, but somehow managed not to try the Fat Boy Red wine. Fat Boy Red is slightly off dry. It is a casual, drinkable wine that is a great red for summer barbecues. We had ours with barbecued beef my husband smoked, and with the smoked sweet potatoes I featured a while back and the pairing was perfect. The flavors are dark cherry/berry and the wine has robust fruity flavor that really is not really sweet, but not really dry either. It is a blend of cythiana, cabernet franc, merlot and cabernet sauvignon. If you are unfamiliar with cynthiana visit the Three Sisters Vineyard website or read my review of their cynthiana here.
I really recommend this wine if you like fruit forward reds and don’t mind a little sweetness. Don’t worry, it is definitely not super sweet or over ripe. It is perfect for times that you have guests with many different wine tastes as well as casual dining or back porch sipping.
