Happy Memorial Day!
Memorial day is a day that we stop to acknowledge all the men and women that gave us the most precious gift, their lives, for our freedom. We here in the Hinterlands are thankful for their sacrifice, with out them we would not be what we are today. The history of the celebration of Memorial Day is quite interesting. Without going into a history lesson, you can take a quick look here .
Memorial Day is also considered the UN-official start of summer, so what better way to mark it than cooking food over fire for summer. We decided to do a round up of some of the past Man Food Monday posts to help get you started thinking about all the grilling and smoking possibilities ahead of you as we pass through the lazy days of summer.
I like the grill, I like the smoker, and I enjoy cooking either meats or veggies on them. This is a collection of some of our favorites we want to share again.
Let’s get started.
Our first offering is Cornish hens
This was one of my first Man Food Monday s post and it has been a favorite ever since we posted it.
Then, there is the stuffed bell peppers.
These were shared with me by my son.
How about Cherry smoked spareribs?
These are always a favorite here.
Yum, smoked honey whiskey pork chops.
a little top round steak
Maybe some grilled baby artichokes…
or easy smoked salmon.
Jack and coke brisket takes a little time but is worth it.
The brick chicken was nice.
A recent favorite of mine the was the chopped smoked beef.
Next to last in the hit parade:
And, very last is a oldie but goodie:
I hope you had a great holiday and will check back next week for something new.
Take care
Steve
